Hi,I’m new on here but would love any advice/support please!

My Bf of 7 years confessed in May to being a gambling addict and having around £25k worth of debts. He was very remorseful at the time and vowed to do whatever it took to stop.
He admitted to gambling a few weeks later after I went to mums for an evening, because he was lonely and lost £300, even though my daughter who is 12 was at home and our dogs.
he says he has activated Gamban so he can no longer gamble but how do I get evidence of this? Also he does not know exactly how much debt he has or whom too,I have ashes several times for him to find out and we can discuss. He went to a GA meeting once but said it wasn’t for him.

i found a CCJ letter at the end of aug which he hasn’t told me about and a betfted receipt for 8th November so he’s still gambling to an extent.

Not sure how I can trust him again and have been in a relationship with an addict before.

Thankyou for any advice

Sorry to hear you are in this situation. Unfortunately there are too many posts like this lately. Number one has to be to ensure you and your daughter are financially separate from the issue. Then it’s chat time. He has to be willing to quit, that means full disclosure. Bank statements, credit report, everything. If he can’t show you that, he’s hiding something. GA isn’t for everyone, but this step is. If he can’t be open and honest, in all its ugly glory, he’s not ready to quit.

Get him on here. In the chat rooms. Phoning the support line. He had to wnat this, and unfortunately for you, it had to be him that makes the effort. You can support him, and he can change, but it has to be led by him.

I hope this helps, and I hope you get the answers you want from him.

Stay strong 💪
