This is more of a question. I was just wondering do addicts go for a certain type of person. Do they choose people who are caring, loyal and honest.
I generally don't lie, haven't left my husband even though he has caused me and my children considerable pain and suffering and always end up giving him another chance.Â
I'm not saying it's my fault he has an addition but just wondered what others thought

I think we are afraid to leave. We allow their behaviour to continue. It’s not our fault and we are not to blame.
we have to learn to put ourselves first . We have to set boundaries. We have to be sure of ourselves.

Reading this answer I was thinking why had I never reached out for help before and then remembered years ago I went to his councilor with him and she asked me why I stayed, implied there was something wrong with me and basically blamed me for allowing my husband to have an addiction. I never asked for help again. Having read your response I know realise not everyone is like her . Thank youÂ
