Hello, I'm new to this site. I finally decided to ring the helpline tonight and took on board the advice the lady gave me. As soon as my husband came back in (from the bookies) I tried to speak to him. He just got a wine and went up for a bath saying (after blaming me for everything) he'd deal with it. He's said that before. He'll now retreat. He'll avoid me in the hope I'll let it go. I am so fed up.

Your probably best putting your comment in the Families & Friends section. You will alse see similar stories that you will be able to relate to and good advice also. It sounds like your husband may have a gambling issue, if he is a compulsive gambler it is vital you seek help for yourself as you cannot control or rely on him. Im not surprised your fed up, if he is a CG you will always come second to a bet unless he gets help.
Hi janni this is classic behaviour of an active gambler, blaming others, bad mood, ignoring the issue. The best thing is to ignore it, don't ask. Secure your finances and no bailouts. Find a gamanon meeting if you can. Living with an active gambler is chaotic. You need to set limits, don't make empty threats. They will bankrupt you, borrow from friends and family , lie, manipulate you, make you think you are the one in the wrong. This is progressive, starts small, becomes habit and can involve massive amounts of money. Ultimately you can only change yourself. Change your reaction, don't keep secrets, keep calm and get help for you. Talk on here and ask questions. I have been where you are now.
