Keeping a gambler's secrets rarely ends well. First time round I kept it from the kids at Mr L's request and got it thrown back in my face. At the very least it protects those you've told from being manipulated by sob stories. If you need support, don't hesitate to ask for it but being selective about who you tell is completely understandable. There are certain friends who still don't know what went on here and never will.
Feeling like a mug was one of the hardest things for me. You're not stupid. You're not foolish. You've just trusted someone who should have had your joint best interests at heart and didn't. That's it. Don't be hard on yourself. Put the blame where it really lies.
Take care
With a CG you could never apply the “for better and for worse”. With a CG, better will be just an ilusion and worse will be a certanty. There are statistics who tell that 2 CG out of 10 will get a normal life on the long run. The rest will strugle into a zombie type of life. Unfortunately even for recovery, the odds are against us.
