Also my partner is happy for the gambling block to be active for life but i think the 'normal' he was referring to was me not looking into his money anymore in the future. And as i said, i don't think i can ever do that. Again some people might disagree with this but it's just that i need to know what he is spending on for my own mental health. And I'm glad my partner understood this.
Hi Pep, it all sounds good to be honest. It is not easy monitoring your partner constantly but we know it is necessary.Â
One thing regarding the use of his card, keep an eye on the amounts used. For example a compulsive gambler who does want to gamble might offer to pay for work colleagues lunches, or similar, and they give him the cash, or a common one is they go to the shop and purchase some cheap items and get cashback.
As you probably know by now anyway, the real tell tale sign is the behaviour and the mood. We are withdrawn, irritable and distracted when we are gambling.
GamAnon would be a good option not just for you but others there would benefit from the knowledge you have gained on your journey. Thanks again for sharing.
Hi @joe-90
Thanks, that's a really good point so will keep an eye out for that. Monitoring is definitely not easy and I made it clear to my partner that I don't enjoy doing it but it is essential for both of us.
I wish you the best in your recovery as well.
