Hi Triangle,

We'd certainly be interested in doing more themed chats and we've been in contact with a few organisations about this, we'll update you if anything gets finalised.

We felt the previous ones went well, although the debt chat was less well attended than expected and people seemed less interested in talking about debt - it would be good to know what people think about this? Is it perhaps too personal or individual a topic for chat?

If anyone has any ideas for themes or organisations you'd like to see, please let us know as this is helpful.

Cheers,

Rebecca

Hi

I've posted about this in the chat section but wanted to add it here too. We'll be running an additional chatroom on Monday evenings from next week - October 10th. So chat will be at 7pm and again at 9pm.

Thanks

Rebecca

Thanks for putting on the extra session. Hopefully it'll be well received

Maybe a Gamblers Anonymous themed one would be good. Break down the misconceptions many have of it. Let people ask questions about what goes on there..

Hi Day@atime

Thanks for your suggestion. We're not sure if GA welcomes collaboration of this kind with outside agencies - would you have any information on this?

Thanks

Rebecca

There is nothing in the GA guidance code that wouldnt allow that to happen. Its not really a collaboration as such is it. Neither party is endorsing or opposing the other. It is simply a sharing of accurate information.

It does sound potentially interesting. A good starting point might be for Gamcare to contact GA's Public Relations officer. Their details are on the Contact us area on the GA website if your not already aware.

Hi Triangle and Day@atime

It does sound an interesting idea. I think a reservation we would have is that, as far as we are aware, GA would not endorse or recommend GamCare services, such as counselling, to members. So it might be odd for us to give a special platform to someone from GA to promote GA on our site. Ideally we're looking for organisations who are as happy to recommend us as we are to recommend them, and build a relationship between us and them.

Hope that makes sense and you can understand where we are coming from

Cheers,

Rebecca

Hi
Rebecca

You are quite right GA could not endorse or recommend your services or anyone elses fot that matter as it contravenes our guidance code.

However you do have members on here whom could & would happily give there personal experience of GA to those who were anxious about attending.

I suppose it all boils down to whether you wish to offer people all options or garner partnerships through the themed chatrooms. Im prepared to park my fellowships guidance for a greater good. Are GC?

Friday 2pm chat. No forum admin there.

How are you supposed to get any help if there is no admin around? Didn't see a cancelled post either.

Dear Forum members,

Due to staff sickness today we are unable to run tonight's 9pm chat. Apologies for this - the 7pm chat will run as normal.

Chat on the 12/12/16. 9pm. I hope the forum admin passed along a report on what happened tonight. I would never want anyone else to go through that.

Hope you are ok Tri; I was on there too, didn't feel a safe or pleasant place to be. I could not understand why person with offending comments was permitted to continue. After you left some folks voiced their disapproval, I for one apologise for not speaking out whilst you were there. I am new to this whole thing, found the chat very difficult to follow, and in all honesty was quite shocked by some of the comments being made, and not only those directed at you. I know we are not meant to be judgemental, but surely we should show one another some respect.
