Gamcare is funded by the gambling industry, the owners of Gamcare are people who work for the gambling industry. Their forum moderators censor posts that contain real value and help for other problem gamblers because of a "conflict of interest". (How could a website funded by the gambling industry go out against gambling?)
I'd like to warn anybody who uses Gamcare to avoid doing so - the forums here are much more helpful than Gamcare, and please tell anyone you know who has a problem gambling to avoid this scam website/service, don't call their phone line and don't rely on them to help you - just avoid it and use the forums here or other places that are genuinely interested in helping you.
Is this true admin?
What a load of rubbish.
Gamcare is a charity which does receive funding from the gambling industry. They make no secret of that.
As for posts be censored they are certain words that can't be used one being betting company's names not sure why but I'm sure admin will let you know. I don't recall any if my posts being censored other than when I was promoting a friend book. The forum posts are 99% from users and admin only really get invoked when welcoming someone to the site or someone is in distress or if post become offensive.
Out interest what site did you find this on?
What link is there between these indebted new members, staceymorgan and grace w?
My thoughts exactly cw. I would go as far as saying there also linked to a earth dwelling animal somehow
Hello grace w,
Here is the accurate information about our funding:
"GamCare receives grants through voluntary funding arrangements managed by GambleAware (formerly the Responsible Gambling Trust). These grants enable us to deliver our core services, i.e. the National Gambling HelpLine and our free counselling services across Great Britain for anyone affected by problem gambling. Our education, awareness and development work are not funded through these agreements.
As an independent national charity funded by donations from the gambling industry, GambleAware funds education, prevention and treatment services and commissions research to broaden public understanding of gambling-related harm. GambleAware grants funding to several treatment providers, including Gordon Moody Association and CNWL National Problem Gambling Clinic".
The text you have posted misrepresents our service. We aim to support recovery from problem gambling and our forum users have often posted that they have found the forum and our other services helpful to their recovery.
Take care,
Forum admin.
No one should ever use a link for debt. There are charities well known such as stepchange. Anyone advertising a link to me warns of fees being charged. Vulchers absolute vulchers dean0 your right
