Could you introduce a like button on people's posts please. I think it would be beneficial for people to believe their posts are being read and are helping people without the need for people to respond. Cheers.

Hi Addicted Gambler,

Thank you very much for your feedback and suggestion. I have forwarded this to the managers of the Forum for consideration and you will hear back as soon as they had an opportunity to discuss this. In the meantime, I wondered what other Forum members thought of this idea and whether they would find it helpful?

Kind wishes

Gabriele

Maybe its just me but what's wrong with replying to people and thanking them? Also what would a like button be saying about the post other than a generic like. That being said, it would fit in with our modern way that we are living right now.

I understand the sentiment but for me, getting a ‘like’ would simply serve to inflate my already oversized ego. Liking a post wouldn’t actually be evidence that it is helpful & I think it may even discourage people from bothering to reply, especially, dare I say it, on a site where the majority of people are looking for an easy ‘way out’. I wouldn’t be so against a single read button so the poster knows it has been, but for me, recovery is not a competition & other than the day count which is a very helpful tool I can’t see what purpose this would serve. If I want validation about whether I have been heard & how helpful I am being, I find real life is the best place for that.

Yea, i would also think it could become something people get a little too obsessive and concerned about. I always try to reply where and when i can. Its a forum afterall, replying gives me as much benefit as to the original poster. Though i do understand that to new people it can be off putting to just see your post go unanswered if that was to happen.

Hello all

Thanks for the suggestion AddictedGambler, and for all the considered replies. We would rather not implement a 'like' button right now as we're concerned that users may find that their self-esteem and sense of security on the forum becomes dependent on getting 'likes'. And on a more practical note our developers have their hands full right now getting our chatroom back online.

It is really good to see suggestions coming in though even if we don't implement them all.

Best wishes

How about a way to see how many views your post or thread has gotten and not just responses. This way we could feel good that at least it's being read. ? tara2

Hello Tara2,

Thanks very much for the suggestion. We've given it careful consideration but we've got the same concerns as with the 'likes' idea - that some forum users may find their self-esteem affected by how many times their post had been read.

But we do welcome the suggestions and please keep them coming.

Best wishes
