Been about 2 years since I logged into this forum. In that time I've gambled my way out of debt and gambled my way right back into it. Most people who know me don't have a clue about this gambling side of me, I've learned to hide it well. Borrowing from Peter to pay Paul, I've always managed to keep it a secret, my shame.
For the first time I've finally found someone who I want to spend my life with, she is wonderful and I'm so lucky to have her in my life. She knows nothing of the person that thinks nothing of risking £1000 in 10 minutes in an online roulette wheel. Im in a Debt Management programme which is fine, I'm slowly trying to pay back debts, my credit is completely knackered but I'm lucky that I have a decent job which gives me a comfortable lifestyle. I just can't stop throwing money away though, I just spent 1400 quid on a website where on the computer roulette I had 14 losing spins of £100 in a row. It could be luck, I've never managed to get any massive wins so I don't know why I'm hooked, must be my personality. Anyway I've got an interesting conversation with my DMP compant tomorrow explaining an additional debt.
I want to stop so badly, I'm just tired of it all now really.
Hi there welcome back . I have just been through a debt management plan you can read about it on my thread. You have taken the first step and I am sure there is going to be plenty of good advice offered . Very simply you have a choice . To carry on as you were or to turn your life around . It’s a signpost point right now and do you take the left turn or the right turn . There will be advice to tell your partner , hand control of your money over to someone else etc etc . At this stage you need to firstly put blocks in place . Make sure you can not gamble whilst you get some head space . Self exclude from everything . If you can’t tell your partner right now for fear of losing them , perhaps a family member . You need to have minimum money access . I would als strongly suggest reading as many stories on here . We are all very similar and the advice to one person can be taken by anyone
Affected by gambling?
