I’ve been gambling ever since I was 18 and have always had a problem with it but have never told anyone about it. I gamble on online casino and sports betting. The worst thing that probably happened was when I won xxx in the space of 2 hours on baccarat. The next day I lost the whole lot within 10 minutes by doing £1000 hands therefore made my gambling addiction 10 times worse. I needed to make that win back but I kept losing and losing until it came down to my last £100 left in my bank account which I then turned into xxxx profit. I signed up to gamstop thinking that would be the end but then 6 months later I was back gambling losing all my initial profit and more on top of that. This past month I haven’t been at work due to a work injury where I lost the top of my thumb in a digger. I’ve just been nonstop gambling losing over £1000 of my hard earned money as well as not earning money because of not being at work. I have lost thousands in total if I were to add it up.  I seriously need to stop and need help. I’m 21 years old and definitely addicted.

Hi mate,

Admitting you've got a problem at 21 is really good going. You've got plenty of time to make this right, but don't sit back and be content now.

If you take positive action now then you'll recover from the losses pretty quickly. Think of those losses as buying you a better life of no gambling. You've paid a price which is hard to take in the short term, but in the long term, you can make it worth it by stopping now and enjoying life without gambling.

The more help you get now, the better. I'd start by self excluding and using Gamban if necessary.

I got addicted at 18 too, I'm 29 now and there have been some ups and downs but now I believe those bad experiences helped me improve my life in other ways as well as not gambling.

See your age as an asset. You've done the right thing, so make sure you follow it through now and things will improve quickly.

@joman123 thanks mate. Stupidly I went back to it this morning and lost again. It’s time to quit for good. I’m signing up for gamstop. Enough is enough!

you'll definitely need the blocks. Like any addiction, being able to access the thing you're addicted to makes it a lot harder. You wouldn't try quite smoking while keeping a 20 deck on the table would ya!

So definitely get the blocks setup ASAP and ensure you don't leave yourself a way to 'break' through the blocks.

@joman123 exactly mate. Your totally right, I just need to get on with it and place the blocks but I don’t know why it’s so hard for me to just do it!
