I’m new here but far from new to the horror of gambling.  I first went to the GAA rooms in 2010. The program worked for me and I stuck at it. I attended meetings religiously and was really getting somewhere.  In 2016 my  world came crashing down as my wife lost a short battle with cancer. This isn’t an excuse I knew exactly what I was doing but having no one to answer to I got back into it heavy.

Fast  forward three years and a horrendous amount of money later I finally admitted defeat again. My life has become unmanageable and  know what I need to doI am eight days clean and Having gambled every day for the past three years it’s a step in the right direction. Just for today I will not gamble. Thank you for taking the time to read

Very easily done , to lose the love of your life, trying to fill that void , you feel lost.

lost my mum to suicide two years ago , always gambled before , but It got progressively worse.

Trying again.

i wish you all the best with your recovery.

Good morning,

In 2002 i lost my wife to a short cancer battle. I was 34 and had to bring up a 4 year old child.

Fast forward a few years and despite re marrying my gambling demons emerged. I blew thousands and tried to destroy everyone and everything including a failed suicide attempt.

Why? I reckoned the world owed me a favour. After all i had been dealt a bad hand.

Fast forward a bit more. My son has forged a career, my debt is dwindling and my marriage is still together.

Pleased you have got to 8 days but maybe consider GA or counselling.

We have suffered a bereavement and each turn we wish to make is difficult.

Keep posting. There are many good people on this site willing to help others.

Best
