Hi. My names Dan. Im 30 and have been gambling for probably 12 years but now I want/need to stop. I have the most amazing girlfriend and son who I don't want to lose and if I keep gambling I know that that is what is going to happen. All help would be very much appreciated and tips to stop gambling will be used. I've self excluded myself from the sites that I used. I want a normal happy life.

Hi Dan, today is also my first day not gambling in a very long time, I wish you the best and hope we can support each other. I have been reading some diaries here and they are very inspiring. I found a GA meeting for Thursday night and will go, hoping this helps. Also looking into blocking software for my computer. Take care and have a good gamble free day.

Attend your GA meetings with an open mind. Be honest with the people around you; they're all in the same situation as you.
I went to a meeting about 8 years ago (just the one) and decided that the people around the table had more of a problem than me. I was wrong: they just had more money to gamble than me!
I like to think that I stopped gambling and I guess for a while at least I did, but it crept up on me and I have now found myself with mountainous debts.
I have started attending meetings and I realise that my story is very much the same as the others around me.
People outside cannot understand: they will just say, "Why didn't you just stop?" and we know that it's not as straight forward as that. We have a problem with the wring in our brain. The people around the table do understand and your story will resonate with them.
