Hi All
I have just been reading through months of pain from all the people here, and thinking of my own horrific current situation.
I am led to wonder..
There are people here who have lost hundreds of thousands, people who lost thousands. That is just the people who are brave enough to come here. Across the country there will be so many people losing like this. Some losing millions..
Where does all the money end up.. Is it just the pocket of the casino owner? The government?
You read all that cr** about 97percent payout on slots etc... But for me, having lost thousands, sometimes without a 1 pound win.. I am just confused. Everyone loses. All of us. So how much money do these Casinos make..
How is this allowed.. I mean.. I know I am dumb for the things I have done, putting all that money in... But surely this is not far off robbery...
I have realised now, you cannot ever win in the end.. But its hurting my brain reading this forum and wondering how in a 'civilised' country this is allowed..
Hi Over14
These are good questions that many (if not all) of us have asked (ourselves or others) at some point or another.
The money lost will end up with the Casino/Bookmaker who, depending on the size of the operation, make between a hell of a lot of money and an obscene amount of money! It's what they are in business for and they are doing very nicely out of it. You'll notice since the rise of the internet that the number of betting businesses (be they sports betting, casino's or bingo sites) has exploded and the level of marketing to entice people in has likewise grown hugely. This shows that even with a bigger level of competition that there is still a goldmine to be made out of facilitating gambling.
Depending on where the company is registered or hold premises the level of tax that they pay to that countries Government will vary. Some Governments are very stringent on regulating gambling activity and promoting 'responsible gambling', whilst others pay lip service to this yet happily keep laws relaxed as long as there's a big tax bill being paid.. Other Governments/Countries will actively encourage and incentivise businesses to set up there and offer all sorts of tax breaks (hence many companies will shift their H.Q's based on where the biggest breaks are eg. Gibraltar). It's all a bit of a scam but as long as jobs are being created and some money is being paid back into an economy somewhere these wretched companies will continue to exist and many Governments will do the upmost minimum to protect the wellbeing of those who may be potentially susceptible to addiction (which is ultimately anybody and everybody).
There will be codes of conduct for Betting Agents to follow and numerous ‘voluntary’ schemes that they can join to give the impression that they encourage ‘responsible gambling’ and plaster logo’s all over their websites/shops/literature to give the impression that they care about their patrons. We all know however that they do not give a flying... fig about responsible gambling as they do not make as much profit.
The fixed odds that companies advertised are complete rubbish and do not tell half of the story. For example, there may be a 80% pay out rate advertised on a specific gambling type but that doesn’t mean that 80% of funds put in will win or that 80% of the time an individual will win. It could mean that 80% of the total money paid in collectively gets paid back (over an undisclosed period of time) but this actually means as a group everyone is 20% down! (some will be momentarily up, IF they stop others will be continually down). It could also mean that 80% of people playing (over an undisclosed period of time) will ‘win’, but you have to bare in mind that a ‘win’ does not constitute having more money than you started with (eg. You could lose fifty pounds and then win one pound and you will still be considered a ‘winner’). It is ALL ONE BIG SCAM. But as long as they are advertising things using ‘correct’ statistics (no matter how skewed or misrepresentative they are) then they can get away with it.
There are several reasons you can never win when gambling repeatedly, mostly because of the addiction and inability to walk away, but also because everything is set up against you from the start.
It is really important to understand how corrupt and anti-human these businesses are and to get your own back on them. I have found that you cannot do that by holding personal anger against them, that can partly be a trigger to go back and misguidedly try to ‘show them who is boss’.
There is only one way to get the upper hand over these heartless organisations and that is to walk away and never give them a single penny more.
We'll said it's all nonsense , I have read the percentage which it shows, on my relapse I was playing a 2 a spin and it said 94% return I put 500 and got zero back how the hell do they work this out it is all c**k and bull , best to stay away.
