Hi,

Been on Gamcare for 5 years but only ever half attempts at beating my gambling addiction until now.

I've been gambling for approx 10 years and managed to get myself in to alot of debt, I've managed to get that debt down to be debt free by end of 2023 but could have probs cleared it with the amount of I've gambled in last year.

I really try and get to grips with it and go 2/3weeks gamble free but then all I need is to see a fb article about someone winning big or something and next thing I know I'm spending hours gambling again.

I've been of work for last year but still recieving full wage due to cause of injury and on going treatment for it.. And my gambling is spiralling again... I told my gf a while ago how bad my gambling had been and put measures in place to try prevent it (give her my money, etc) but some how end up gambling by using the money I'd pay bills with then having to get my money back of her to pay them bills.

Anyone any advice on how to start getting on top of it. I need to stop now cause I can't continue on like this.

Hi B00596447,

Thanks so much for joining the GamCare forum and posting your story. It sounds frustrating that you've made so many attempts to stop.

You haven't said what kind of gambling you've been struggling with. If it's online, there are ways to block and ban yourself from online gambling. If it's betting shops, casinos or other venues, there are ways to get banned from those venues too.

Find out more about self-exclusion:

And software to block online gambling:

It might help to give us a call on the Helpline on 0808 8020 133, or chat to us on Livechat. We may be able to suggest options to suit your circumstances and there may be free ongoing support to help you beat those two-week urges in future.

Keep posting,
