I am so immensely proud of myself; today I realised that I had reached 101 days without gambling. After a few years of racking up debts over £20k I am finally getting to the point where I hardly ever think about gambling, let alone be tempted to gamble. I still have my huge debts which I am very slowly and painfully paying each month, but at least they are going DOWN and have not escalated by another couple of grand which they would've done if I'd kept gambling. I don't mean to sound as though I am smug or boasting, but I'm so so so pleased with myself it's untrue. onwards and upwards x

Hi ihategambling

101 days free of gambling, sharing that is by no means "smug", it is insperational. Thank you for sharing this.

Well done mate!

Never worry about the smug factor, what you are doing is brilliant! The fact you have no urge to gamble is excellent and will make that 101 days be a lifetime. Debts come and go, but as you put, you're not adding to them! Marathon not a sprint and all that!

Keep up the good work buddy!

Well done!! I've just joined the site as I desperately need help. I do not have debts however I'm gambling alot of wages and desperately want to stop.

I hope I can be like you and get rid of the beast within me.

Good luck, I look up to you and your achievement.

Good achievement, well done!!

Remember to keep your guard up though, I made it to 105 days and then somehow let myself down and proceeded to lose £800+ inside 2 weeks 🙁

I'm back on the wagon now though and have a target of 105 days to beat!!

Wow. Thanks for all the lovely feedback xxxx. I'm now at 125 days gambling free and although I haven't really chipped into paying much debt off, I have to remain positive that it is about £500 less debt than it was 4 months ago. To the person who asked my age: I'm 42 (female) and that just sounded like a dating add. Haha. Stay strong guys x

Thats great fluffycat and you should be immensely proud of yourself.

The thoughts do fade away and you can use some time just to tweak your blocks and work things through with your stronger and healthy mind. I am never complacent and that has become my mantra if you like.

Yes you are so right and you must look at the debt in a certain way. Those debts would have escalated if you had still been gambling and all gambling would have done is make matters worse.

There is help for you and you can only pay what you can afford. To anybody reading gambling is not the way out of debt...indeed it causes debt.

So well done and best wishes from everyone on the forum
