I was doing so well! I hadn't gambled once in two whole months (it felt like even longer) went completely cold turkey and just stopped however today I had 365 in savings and within the space of 10 minutes and online slots ... I now have zero ... That 365 was from extra right hour shifts from work and loads of extra shifts over Christmas and I was building it up over the last couple of months ... So why on earth was that not enough for me? Why did I cave in and spend it all 🙁 ... I need help because I can see this progressively getting worse
Dear K130.
The online slots are designed to do exactly that. Keep you spinning til its all gone.
Its such a sting when you come up for air from a gambling session and think about what you just lost.
You have done so well with 2months.
I am only on day 5 so I offer moral support only. The expert recoverers on here have the wisdom to advise.
This sounds like a blip to me. As ex gamblers have told me, if it cost you 365 to learn an important lesson, it could be money well spent.
The moment of realising how much hard work you have thrown away is the moment we always forget when we decide to gamble the next time. That's the feeling we must remember.
Hi k130
It will get worse if you leave it untreated.
Well done for going two months without a bet!!! So you had a slip its not the end of the world(tho it may feel it) just dust yourself down and start again.
This time i recommend you do it differently.
dont go cold turkey get as much help and support as you can. I dont know your history but stay sharing on this forum would be a start.
Have you considered GA? Do family members know about this problem? if so, can they control your finances while your still vunerable? I thought i could do it alone and i failed miserably. I have been going to GA for 18 months now and it has helped alot. Apart from a few relapses out of the 18 mths ive been gamble free for about 15 mths. my last bet was 10 wks ago.
I know GA is not for everyone and its no magic wand but why not give it a try? if you dont like it then dont return and seek other help. anyways ive rambled on to long. I wish you all the best in your recovery. Good luck!!!!
