I've just read your stories and never felt so much of a connection in a long time. I am a gambling addict. Online slots/bingo are my triggers. I never miss the National lottery or Euromillions and the thought of never putting my lines on again freaks me out as I know my numbers. The obvious solution to that would be to "just not check" a friend of mine won xxx around 2 years ago. I had another mate won xxxx on a scratch card.....my spending has become ridiculous. I'm not at a point where I cannot pay bills or buy food, but I am spending any spare cash and feel guilty on myself. I'm having to turn down outings or activities with my other half, family and friends. I cannot live my life like this, trying to chase that big win, that I am always sure will come, but never does.

Hi John,

It rarely does come, and if it did, you’d put it all back in plus more because you’ll then think you can win double!

If you really want to stop, get those blocks in place and close the door.

Can you open up to anyone? It was the hardest thing I had to do but the best thing. I’m now currently 320 GF.

Wishing you luck on your journey. Grab hold of any help and advice you can get your hands on to. It’s so important to stay connected to those in the same position as you.

Claire x

Thank you Claire for your kind words and a massive well done on your willingness. You're doing amazing. Sadly I went and gambled tonight whilst I was self-exluding. I've set them all now and tomorrow is a new day. I've read that people struggle with urges and some don't. How do you manage? X

@d086rv5etk

I was particularly lucky and didn’t get any major urges - I think I just seriously hit rock bottom and I never wanted to feel the way it made me feel again, that was my determination and motivation. But if you do get them, distract yourself, go out for a walk, anything to take your mind off gambling. The urges will get a lot less as time goes on.

Just take one day at a time…x
