hi, ive decided to stop gambling tonight, ive just simply had enough of it, its just a bloody nightmare im having with it, a rollercoaster,

i lost all my cash on the fobs earlier today and i deposited my last £10 in my bank account to an online site and got the amount up to *** and withdrew it, but of course i reversed it shortly after and lost the lot very quickly, im sure anyone who is reading this knows all too well about that,

anyway, ive self excluded myself from everywhere, joined gamstop and gamcare and chatted with a lovely advisor who has forwarded my details to a treatment place for further help,

im starting uni tomorrow and felt it was time to get a grip on this nightmare called "gambling"

Hello ajs654321,

It is good to know you have decided to stop gambling and have used the Helpline for support. You have no doubt already started University, so, a new academic year can be an opportunity to do things differently than you did before; be aware of organizing your time as constructively as you can: finding new activities, new social groups, perhaps volunteer your free time to assist others in need; not forgetting finding "me" time rest moments.

Forum users will tell you that this is your journey, that recovery is about and for you...they are quite right of course; I would add to that: be clear about what you want your life to look like without gambling; it doesn't have to be complicated, perhaps initially you might wish to be less stressed: achievable goals are key.

Counselling hopefully will give you the space to explore any underlying issues and assist you in achieving those initial goals. Please know that you can speak to the team on the Helpline and Netline as much as you need. The support from your fellow Forum users I am sure would be of great benefit and inspiration as well.

With all good wishes
