Hi new to the forum So had a *** account only ever used for the odd coupon, not used since January. I find a username request and password reset on my gmail from Sunday 12th August find a bit strange, confront my 12 year old son and he bursts out crying. He has Got on my account on Sunday, made 4 separate deposits, £20 £80 £60 £80 all within about 1 hour very erratic turns out he was playing roulette. Another 3 deposits made today £20 £40 £80, this was about an hour or 2 before I confronted him. All he had to do was go on my phone which he does to watch YouTube, he's requested my username, gmail linked to fone, went in answered 2 questions my mum's middle name and street name I grew up in and he now had access to my account. My card was already registered so all was need was the 3 digit security which was easily accessible out my wallet. I have contacted ***, do you think they will do anything to help me as there has been no activity on my account then a sudden request for username then some very erratic deposits and betting. Thanks Darren

As it is I don't think you will get a refund as the account is set up in your name. They might do a goodwill payment but is slim. If the deposits were by credit card you might be able to do a chargeback on the recent deposits but you will get blacklisted by them and other online gambling sites.

It was debit card, just thought they would have seen I have never played roulette before, not been on account for months then like 8 deposits in a few days, it's not going to break the bank but I'm pretty peed to say the least, wish it had been a credit card as I wouldn't care about being black listed very rarely use betting sites, they have said they will look into the activity and let me know, I shall update any dealings I have with them

Hello Dazza59,

You might like to look at this page on the 'BigDeal' website as it is aimed at parents who are talking with their children about gambling: https://www.bigdeal.org.uk/for-adults/#1

You could also look at our webpage about blocking software if you are considering placing some parental controls on your smartphone: https://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/what-can-you-do/blocking-software#.VCAwxvldXww

If you like, you could also look at the freephone for Family Lives, which is available for callers with any parenting concern they might want to discuss, on 0808 800 2222 https://www.familylives.org.uk/

You're welcome to call us on our freephone 0808 8020 133 if you'd like to talk about your child's gambling, we're available 8am to midnight.

Take care,

Forum Admin.

Money aside (very unlikely they will refund) are you getting some help for your son? even up to 21 the brain is still developing and can get hooked on this stuff very easily. I would be seeking help for that asap

I agree you are unlikely to get a refund.

As you hadn't used the account since January, they could easily think you've forgotten your login details.

As for roloutte it's one of those games, that people quite often hear about a failsafe way to bet on it and try it out.

Of course I don't disbelieve you here, but a 12 year old gambling is not obviously good.

I always had a fascination with fruit machine at 12 and even before. Needless to say I continued that into adult life until I was 38, 10 years ago.

During that time, I always used to say to the kids watching and trying to give me tips on playing in the over 18s area "Remember this conversation, never ever get involved with gambling, it'll ruin your life, like I have allowed it to ruin mine".

It's important children have the message drummed into them whatever ways possible.
