Hi, 8 weeks ago I finally took steps towards stopping gambling. It started with a phone call to Anonymind. Since then I have been talking with a therapist each week and have also been involved in a research study. I haven't gambled since that phone call. It's early days but I really believe that just talking to people has been my biggest help, as previously I have kept my gambling a secret from everyone. This has led to me telling a close friend, which went well! And have actually told my brother today..!
I am trying to build in as many safe guards as I can so this forum will hopefully be an extra tool.
Thank youÂ
Well done in reaching out.
Everyone who has had this gambling issue in their life has to confront it in their own way.
Your breaking the secret is very brave. You should be proud of yourself.
Funny isn't it... Just telling someone else makes it real. It being real gives you something to work on. Gambling no longer is something you just do, it forces you to look at it for what it actually is as you see it through the eyes of the person you are telling and not yourself.
Hope this make sense lol
Yes! Thank you for your reply.Â
I feel now that when I have urges I can call my friend and my brother also. It does feel like a huge burden has lifted ?
Affected by gambling?
