Hi
i’m new to this forum, i feel now is a time for change. I recently checked a profit & loss on my betting account and it was just under £XXX down over the year.
Â
Im not in any debt because of gambling, I have a good job and money in my savings but I feel sick at the thought of what that money could have been used for. I’m 25 and been gambling since I was 18 so if you add that up over the years it’s a lot of money lost.
just really want any advice, story might not be as bad as some people I understand but to me it hurts massively
We have a few things in common. I’m also 25 and have gambled since I was 18. I also have no gambling debts - but if I didn’t gamble, I’d probably have enough for a house deposit by now.Â
Â
I’m a month and a half gamble free and I intend to keep it that way. It could get a whole lot worse for us, you need to quit now.Â

theonlywayisup is correct.
stop now.
i remember looking at my profit and loss and aimed to rectify. But it only got worse. And it got worse very quickly.
the only good thing I have to say about the one particular site (I dealt with) is the profit / loss tool. They made it perfectly clear how much you had lost (compared to other sites). I would never had believed otherwise!
all the best.
Hi Macca,
I too deallt with ----air & would constantly look at my P/L account. It's a ploy & a sales tactic to tap into your CG mindset. It's telling you WOW look how much you're down. You have to continue in order to take it back of us. Once we go along with that philosophy it's all downhill. Send a message to them saying they've fed off you for the last time. Tell them you've accepted that they've beaten you, but most importantly they've sickened you for the last time & you've accepted you're never going to win it back. Don't become another statistic of addiction, misery & naivety. Right here & now is the time you decide that they're smarter than you or they own you for years to come. Their goal is profit not peoples well being. Remember once you buy into the CHASE philosophy you're beaten.
Best Wishes

I'm pleased that you realise gambling is a 'mugs' game and that you don't need to fall into the trap of chasing your losses. I am an old fool by comparison and when I was aged 25 my gambling compulsion had already taken hold. That's not to say that I couldn't have really tried to stop and put my effort into a worthwhile, lucrative career. But I always wanted an easy life and was too stubborn to listen to advice from others. So what I'm basically saying is don't waste the next 25 years of your life (and probably thousands of pounds). Forget about the money that you have lost to date. You'll have plenty of opportunities to earn back the losses.
Hi AL
never thought of the P/L tactic by the sites like that! Well, it worked to a point! Now they’ll never see me again because of it!

cheers and all the best!

You need to occupy yourself with a hobby or a project/task that you will get an adrenaline of proudness when you achieve it. Boredem is probarly your worst enemy here as your sitting pondering about loses. Is there anything you enjoy doing? Or a project in the house you can do? Wall papering, building, refurbishing, gardening can help.Â
Affected by gambling?
