Good Evening!

I've finally made my first small step to giving up my problem gambling for good. Gamling has been a problem for me ever since I was 18 (so nearly 9 years now) I don't smoke, don't take drugs and rarely drink so I felt I needed to get my rush from somewhere, and gambling gave me that adrenaline rush.

I've tried a few times giving up. Sometimes it's gone well-ish. Maybe a few months. Sometimes it's lasted only a few days.

It's got to a point where I have to try something new to get a different, and hopefully permanent result in quitting - and I hope that joining this forum will be the breath of fresh air I need.

So, hello! Today, I've had a really bad day. Lost in excess of £500. Started off with the German Bundesliga. Ended up on some E-Sports, the home darts and god knows what else I was betting on that I seemed to like the odds on yet knew nothing about. No more!

This stops now!!

 Hi Yoshi and welcome

You are in the right place so if you embrace the forum and stick with it you will learn a lots of information and gain the knowledge to help you make this addiction history.

Its not just about casual willpower so you need to be ready to learn about this as a drug addiction and reach out for all the help and trusted advice.

Really you need to tell someone close that you are a compulsive gambler and restrict access to your own money. Its a born again moment of serenity you need...yes that strong because the foundations start in your soul

As you have seen its an insidious, nasty dangerous, even lethal addiction that leaves people betting on Saudi Arabian sports events (for example) on Christmas day.

You have been ignoring the odds as you crave the drug fix and crave chasing when it naturally goes wrong. Its called gambling for a reason. Its not a clever little activity that takes skill or the gambling dens would be out of business fast.

They dont ignore the odds and they have teams of people mitigating the risk and planning their tropical yacht lifestyle.

I dont smoke or drink..my drug was gambling and I was hooked fast. I had no control of my own minds cravings and the only way was abstention with family support and all the blocks.

I hope you will see what is needed. Its not a case of saying right ive had enough now because the addiction lurks and comes back at you because its in your bones.

You can do this but you have to do the cold turkey as your mind strengthens and heals. You can never be complacent again but thats a positive statement. You will have better things to do and you will have control of your life back....oh and you will have money!..why would you want to throw any of  it away again?

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

Good luck my friend, I was too in the same position last night. Lost a few hundred pounds. After I finished I was craving the sensation of gambling and chasing money, which is a horrible horrible feeling. Coming to this website to post definitely took a weight off. Try to post your progress on here regularly. Good luck.
