Hi all
I am new to Gamcare but dont know what else I can do. Im 26 and gambled for about two years. Ive signed up today as Ive hit rock bottom to the point of suicidal thoughts.
For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to spend my monthly mortgage on the roulette machine and now ive no money to pay the mortgage which COMES OUT TOMORROW!!
Please can anybody out there help me? Ive no family or partner to turn to.
Somebody out there must be able to help me please Im begging you
Hi Jamie
Hope you are feeling okay and if having thoughts like that ive definitely recommend calling samaritans, there's no need to do anything like that trust me, people will support you. I am sure you have someone you can turn to but if you feel like you cant you may have to get some kind of short term loan (not that I would ever advise that) however what are the reprecussions if your mortgage payment does not come out? Do you just pay a little more interest or?
You need to speak to them. It won't go out tomorrow as it's a Sunday. Speak to them before Monday.
Ring the gamcare help line. They will help with how you are feeling and can point you in the direction of the help you need to stop the gambling. You are young and have the chance of a good life ahead but only if you stop gambling.

Hi J
I am a parent of a young gambler and I am really sorry you have nobody at home to turn to. You have done the right thing coming on here and there are people waiting to give you moral support and advice. Before that I would urge you to ring Samaritans as you are obviously panicking about what you have done. You will not the the first one on here to have desperate thoughts. There is always a way to sort things out but the gambling makes you hit rock bottom so hard that you cannot think straight. Believe me I have seen this happening with my own eyes and it is heartbreaking. But if you listen to everyone on here who is going to support you and take their advice you will feel a bit of weight lifted off your shoulders. I would strongly suggest you ring Gamcare or Citizens Advice or your bank to sort the problem with the mortgage. Gamcare would give you more professional advice on how to approach the banks, mortgage people etc. I always suggest getting a pen, piece of paper and make a plan of what you need to to. i.e. Ring Samaritans if necessary, Ring Gamcare - ask them about finance advice, self-excluding from shops, sites etc. Go to the bank and ask them to help you with a budget plan for the month. There are all sorts of things that you can do and it is possible to make your life better again. Many people on here have maybe been deeper than you and are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is hard work sorting things but is all worth it in the end. If you have secured a mortgage at 26 that is something to be really proud of and you must have a lot going for you in life.
Please keep talking to everyone on here and take care.
Hi Jamzie :))
I just left a post on your other thread about Fobt debt before I saw this one .
I came here here with exactly the same feelings as you have with the suicidal thoughts so know exactly how your feeling , your not alone mate and I'll pass on something that I read which helped me get through it when I first arrived here , it was from someone much wiser than me which simply said .
" Suicide is a "PERMANENT" solution to a "TEMPORARY" problem " .
Wise words mate and ones that I'm so glad I listened to , it's just about money and nothing more , everything's sortable it just takes a little time , by stopping gambling debt's will start to go down instead of up and life will improve I promise :)).
Talk to people , open up and be honest , if not to your loved ones initially then as was suggested Phone Gamcare or the Samaritans , there's no jugement just a listening ear :))
You might look long and hard at your first thread in 2013. It sounds to be in the same terms as this one. People gave you the same sound advice then as now. But what's changed about you in four years?
You're not alone and you don't lack family who would support you But their feeding your habit helps no one. They could learn to help you in a more constructive way by helping you to help yourself.
You can change things for you. Block your access to gambling, tell your family and get support via counselling and GA. The help's there but the onus is on you to take it.
It's about your choices and you being responsible for your choices. Things change if things change. One missed payment won't see you (and anyone you live with) on the streets but it doesn't take long for arrears to build up. Be very clear that unpaid lenders repossess, they're not charities. Nor are bookmakers.
The help you need comes from you. Go for it.
