Also...re your bank card, sorry but needing to retain a debit card to pay loans is nonsense. Excuses. If you do want to stop - your call - then try braving the bank, ditch the debit card and get a plain cash card, also set up direct debits for your loans and the DDs should come out on pay day.

The barriers will help...if you're serious about quitting.

CW -Thank you - I am serious - have self-excluded. My reasoning re the debit card is for payday loans (rubbish i know) - I'm under the belief the payments are taken from debit card - if I got a plain cash card I know that would certain;y help with online gambling. I'm disgusted with myself. I've just downloaded k9 but I know the password so in moments of temptation not so good - I've got to ditch the card.

Hi All

Self exclusions great if the online company is co operative. Which a few I could mention weren't with me personally at first. Insist you want to exclude for life as some say 5 years...... That is utter bulls**t it can be done for life.

I wish you all the luck in the world! We are not alone in this

Peace and love guys xx

Hi,

The pay day lenders will still arrange to get their money back if you ditch the card. Suggest that you don't worry about that, you have bigger problems. K9 won't help if you're the one to set the password!! Get someone else to help you with barriers and send letters as suggested. If you really want to stop, you need commitment but that means action rather than lip service. Up to you.

re the password what I did once was find a code for a competition entry on a soft drink.

It was about 10 characters long was never ever going to be memorable and unique to that can only. So I put that as the password and threw away the can.

You need 3 factors in order to gamble Time , Location , Money , you actually have to have time to gamble ( which of lot of can find hence always keeping mind busy without wagering , Location , you need to be in bookies or casino or a laptop and money , no money or funds no gambling , break one of the 3 mate you ca,t gamble its impossible

Thanks Spraggy - just feel sick to the stomach. Have requested permanent self exclusion - most sites have responded positively. I just need to sum up courage to tackle my bank and ask them to replace debit crard with basic cashline card.

Hi,

Well done with self excl.

The more barriers you put up, the easier it will be to resist the urge, that's the point of the barriers. Next step is to contact the bank and go for it, try to set up the DDs for the priorities at the same time. When you go in, take your passport or driving lic and proof of address plus your card and account details. Otherwise they might be jobsworth and you don't need any more obstacles.

Hope it goes well.

Thanks CW - changed password on K9- well got a temporary one and then asked my daughter to confirm a new password - one that she can easily forget/hasn't used before and not to tell me! I'm trying to put in as many barriers as possible.

You've put up a few decent barriers today and presumably chalked up day one. Give yourself some credit - in the sense of achievement this time, not loans.

But do stick with it and deal with the card asap.

Good luck,

Well I'm back again. Got paid yesterday and today gambled £700. So no money for the month now. I'm scared I have a baby and I don't know what to do. Feel sick to the stomach. I won it all back and then lost it again. This is s**t and I don't want to be me any more. I can't go on like this.

Hi,

Have read back through your thread the barriers you have put in place are not high enough meaning you are still finding ways to gamble.

If the gambling is by phone you said in a previous post that you cannot get rid of it. Sounds like you might have to in order to break your triangle.

Take stock in the morning, dust yourself down, focus on not gambling tomorrow. One day at a time remember.

Best wishes x
