Hi everyone,

I’ve been gambling for over 20 years and recently got myself into serious debt again. I’m now one month gamble-free and really hope this is for good.

One of my biggest problems was that I always found a way around whatever blocks I put in place. I live in Sweden, where we have BankID.

I’ve tried blocking transactions with my bank. I also use Gamban, which has helped a lot.

I’ve now moved my spending, and for the first time in years I feel like I can have money available without constantly worrying I’ll gamble it away.

I just wanted to share this in case it helps someone else.

Wishing everyone the best in their recovery.

Mark

Great post and I think many don't realise that on top of blocking software and self exclusion there are other blocks and barriers that can be put in place.

In the UK, thankfully, most banks allow gambling blocks to be put on accounts with 24 hour cooling off period or more. Another good barrier is to remove all ATM access or at least reduce it down to a minimum

I heard the other day that someone who went to a certain venue would always where sandals and ripped jeans when in town so they wouldn't let them in.
