I've a big issue with FOBT slots. got to the point where I don't care how much I win, I play until I loose or something else requires me to leave the bookies so I cash in a ticket at that point.
Win money one lunchtime, loose it on the way home.
After convincing myself that a certain £50 a spin slot game had a players edge I lost £1100 Friday
So went back in as you do today, after convincing myself a few more hundred would get me the money back. Lost another £3000 in a little over 2 hours on the same gameterminal as Friday
Nobody will starve or be made homeless as a result of the loss, that said I'm not a millionaire either! So this could have been spent on a thousand other better things, but at lit'st its not debt.
Sick of the pointless time and money wasted the lies to my wife ( I keep more from her than I lie about)
So going on special measures tomorrow, no debit cards at work just, probably do the diary thing you have here.
This was me 5 weeks ago. Those 50 quid spins are killers and all I can say is stop now! I've excluded, trouble was after losing about 750 over a few weeks I then tried to win it back online, 2500 later and I am done with it. Gambling beat me, I have accepted that. Good luck and as you no one has been massively affected by my loss but the lies and stress including the 9,500 debt I now have are fairly significant! Wife knows about debts now, joint account and don't know the numbers on the back of my credit cards are my strategies this time!

Those insidious, evil FOBTs are a scourge but the good news is you can give the gambling devil that lurks around all of us a big poke in the eye by carrying out one simple symbolic yet practical action, and it'll take 20 minutes of your time. Oh, and you'll need a pic of your passport/driving licence and a face pic. You can use your smartphone, nice and easy, or PC, or Photo Me etc.
If you phone 0800 294 2060 you'll speak to someone who will ensure you are self-excluded from every bookies within a 2 mile radius of where you live, and others around that you specify. You'll get a contract by post or e-mail and you just need to send back photo id as I described.
How's that for a positive first step 🙂 and then - - - you can take further steps to control and possibly slay this gambling beast - because it's no good, we all know that.
