I cannot advise you on how to stop scratching those cards, as I am in a gambling dump too, however, you need to contact StepChange immediately. They are a charity that will help you with your creditors. They will contact them and set up a monthly payment plan that you can afford. Say: £5 - £10 a month. Do it today, they are really nice.

Best of luck,

Z

Hi ALLSORTS123

Welcome to the GamCare forum. I'm glad you were able to start your own thread and say hello. How did you get on over the weekend?

We understand that buying scratchcards is a particularly difficult habit to break as they are in almost every corner shop and there isn't any self-exlusion process for them. Maybe it might help if you can find a way to lock away most of your money and only take out a little each day? Is there anyone else who can help you do that?

If you called the HelpLine, we might have told you about our free counselling which can help you develop your own strategy for stopping. There are also local support groups run by Gamblers Anonymous and Gamblers Anonymous Scotland.

Keep posting and telling us how you're doing,

Best wishes
