Im 35and have been gambling for years, itsgot horribly worse over the last 18 months and ive finally used up every penny.. My debts now stand around 60000 and i have 2 loans, 2 max credit cards and overdraft. My wife is due out first baby in 6 weeks and i just cant tell her as it would break her heart. I did tell her once before and i promised it i started gambling again that i would tell her and get help. I really dont know

what to do. Horrible thoughts are

going through my mind but im not stupid

enought to do any of them. I just need someone to speak to.

hi James, dont worry you can get through it ! You may well have to think about bankruptcy ? get some debt advice. Then you can make a fresh start, & won't have to pay the exorbitant interest on your debts, which will just add to the amount. e.g. 20% interest on 60k is 12k, i.e. 240 / week in interest alone! http://www.debtforum.org.uk/ post there get advice. try stepchange CAB etc.

There is a light at the end, I thought things were bleak I owed 44.5k went bankrupt one of the best things i ever did. such a load off, & you will need strength with new child on the way.

Best to tell your partner just be totally honest, hand over control of your finances to her. Sit down & work out exactly how much you owe, it may be more.

re gambling if there's no money / credit left at least you can't do any more damage, get help e.g. GA or gamcare counselling.

Don't fall into the trap of escaping your responsibility by gambling, occupy yourself with your baby & sorting out your finances.

Hi James10

I'm 36 and can identify with exactly what you're going through.

You need to be completely honest and open about the extent of your debts and your gambling, hand over responsibility for managing money to your partner (for life) and get yourself to a GA meeting.

Your life will get better day by day, believe me.
