So, I've gambled for about 3-4 years now. I've always been addicted to something, as a teenager I was addicted to C*****e and I've always been a smoker, it's like something in my life always has to have a greater importance. The last year has been really really bad. I've lost my job, managed to get myself into around 15000 worth of debt in payday loans and to make it worse I've been got loans on my partners behalf and gambled that she now has loans up to 10000 and I'm not even sure she realises the true extent of it all, every payday she gets paid I log into her bank account and take it and gamble it in the night while she's asleep, she literally goes to work so I can spend 3 hours gambling online, I've borrowed money from my nan, mum, dad and now I've even used my brothers credit card behind his back and spend 1000. I'm going to be kicked out, but where too go? I have no money just debts my partner is the same. I start a new job in 2 weeks which I'm worried il have to give up, I want to change my life but I've now hit rock bottom and it's scary. I really need some suggestions and help. We live near London, 2 females. somehow I don't think being homeless will solve this problem.

Hi Distortion, welcome to recovery 🙂

Being homeless won't sort this problem but equally, if you don't get some help & fast, you're not going to be homeless, you're going to be locked up! The debt is what it is & can be sorted through various options (National Debt Helpline can help) but the psychological stuff is destroying you & your relationships! Your partner obviously knows you steal her money but if your brother doesn't yet, come clean so you can work something out without the added stress of police involvement! I'm guessing the kicking out is going to be from a family home when they find out in which case, coming clean may be a better option for everyone involved. Confessing with a 'recovery' plan will be even better, you may need also need to do a bit of begging for support from them. Call the helpline (they offer free counselling), get to your GP, find a GA meeting near you, whatever you choose, choose something, doing nothing is not an option!

With hard work & focus, you can improve your life & get back on track - ODAAT
