hi
This time last year i had over 20k in my account with me saving over the years then i gambled that way, when i lost that i thought i would make a fresh start and not gamble and i saved 7k with what i had left from my wages once the bills came off but within the last few hours i have lost it all again because i listened to the little voice in my head that kept saying one little game of the online slots wont hurt
i was doing reallly well as i didnt really have any urges to gamble as i have been keeping myself busy to even think about gambling. I know that its just my savings that i have lost and i have never been in debt and never will
when i went in the shower i was ranting and raving at myself and my mother overhead me and she asked me what was wrong or was it somethig she had done (as she is really ill at the moment) but i said no i just wanted to have a good talking to myself as i cannot tell her as she has enough on her plate
I just feel so guilty and so stupid for going down this road
How can i finally overcome this
Hi and welcome.
You had £20k from saving over the years, I assume therefore you weren't gambling or least compulsive gambling, until you started last year and lost that money.
Since then, you managed to save 7k, which means you know you can do it, if you put your mind to it.
But, you need to look at why you gamble, try to prevent yourself being in the same situation/s again and even if you are, get blocks in to prevent you from doing the same again. If you are mainly gambling online than blocking software such as K9, can prevent access to gambling sites. If you don't want to do that, then you should at least self exclude from websites.
If you are gambling offline, than look at self excluding from bookies and arcades.
Do post some more, so many people around here, who can offer great support and advice. In time you might want to look at creating a diary in the diaries section, which can help you post your thoughts and feelings and keep track of your gamble free journey.
