Hey I'm Mike,

I'm not sure if I'll have huge amount of time to interact here, but I wanted to say hi and document through a particular urge I'm currently having .

I called up for advice yesterday morning, explained my situation had great advice, (big online bets) made my strategy ... I then threw a loosing bet on before I gamstoped and gambanned for 5 years .

Today I was just going about setting up my hobbies - I'm an artist and casual air target shooter -

suddenly I imagined how I would get around the online bans I've put in place - I've only been in a bookies 3 times and that was atleast 5 years ago - I have a negative perception of them yet,

I imagined my bank balance, the route I would take and the ATM locations on the way..

It started by imagining the horses, I have a friend that paints incredible oil painted horses, I quickly formulated a plan to depict some winning horses of the day and price it up so I sell them for how much the horse would return if one would put  £10 on .

I'm not going to associate my pastimes with the subject of my issue,

I didn't expect to have these thoughts

I typed this out to realize it and move on from it.

Sounds like you are playing with limbo and fantasy’s and using your hobbies potential returns to use to place and plan those bets. It’s hard when you haven’t hit rock bottom in ones own context and it sounds like you might at some point which is way worse than your position now. But it’s great you have come here for help and to fight back against the addiction which has a grip of us so easily.

I would suggest coming on here daily and reading the posts each day to get a perspective of how bad it can get and how good it can get being gamble free. All you can do is take each day as it comes and don’t think to far ahead.

it might take a while to understand and control your impulses but the blocks you have in place will help as barriers all tho they aren’t 100% guaranteed to stop you gambling it is a start.

I hope you post again

Hello Mike & Welcome

You are in the right place and you need to make time for this forum if you have had a gambling addiction problem

You need to heal and do the cold turkey so please tell someone close say in your family if you can

Recovery is about putting away the thoughts about gambling and your oil painting schemes to face yourself and the reality of what gambling has done to you.

In essence you are linking oil paintings to gambling cravings as you rattle with addiction. We have all been there so fully understand.

I am gamble free and you can be too You don't need it in your life and you will be far happier being honest with yourself and free from this

Gambling is a drug addiction and you have a lot to learn about it and why you were vulnerable to the pushers

You can never be complacent about it again but that is a positive statement. You will have better things to do with your life

Best wishes from everyone on the forum
