Tonight I finally told my partner after lie after lie that I have another credit card that I have been using to gamble with. After running up previous cards and having to make adjustments in life to pay this back and clear my debt I have now run up £1500 debt again on another card. I have not made any bets for the last 2 weeks but have been worried about how to tell my partner but at last I have said the truth and spoke to her tonight. It’s going to be a long way to go but I need to get her to trust me again. This is the part I am worried about because if she was not in my life I don’t know what I would do.

Hello McGillivray and welcome to the GamCare forum.

Well done on taking such a difficult step. I can understand your concern about the future now you've told your partner. But now you've been honest you can start to rebuild trust. Though this can take time and I imagine your partner will need to see the changes in you for herself. Maybe she can help you put some practical steps in place to stop you gambling? Have a look at our website for some ideas:

If either of you would like any more support, do give us a call on the HelpLine 0808 8020 133 or chat to us on the NetLine.

Best wishes and keep posting,
