Hi DNK
Please check out the Overcoming Problem Gambling forum. Some one is recommending a book called "Overcoming Problem Gambling". Maybe you can have a go at them rather than me. You never know it might be the author in disguise or a genuine poster who is getting some benefit from the book and wants to help others, so we can't have that can we !
Please, can't we just get on and try help others through this?. Give and take a bit of help and advice?. We're all mature adults (however immature we were in the grips of this addiction) and we can all make up our own minds whether to install Gamblock/Betfilter, start a diary, go to GA, try counseling, hypnotherapy or even, God forbid, buy my book or someone elses'. We are all aware of the power of the internet and how anyone can be someone else under the cover of a pseudonym, so is a recommendation real or simply a plug.?
I do genuinely hope your recovery is going well. I can only imagine the pain of trying to stop gambling while ahead as you are going through and I admire your courage for coming on here and seeking help. You don't deserve some of the stick you've taken for it.
Best regards
Deeds (Philip Mawer and yes that is my real name!!)
I agree on what previous users have said, but let me tell you something you will loose everything. I know because I made the same mistake I lost a huge amount in 7 years made all the money I lost not in 2 years but in a month I thought I was very careful cautious but you know what I managed to lose everything in about an hour. Not once twice in 2 months so please stop advertising the amount you made because you will lose it and you will make other people believe that they actually can wind their money back. It's not possible the state of the mind changes when you make your money back you think you can win forever you think this time you found a way and you will beat the bookies but soon or later you loose everything. I would like to tell you that you should before Its too late and that you are lucky but I know it will do little and you will never learn without losing everything. If you want to be the winner stop now and trust me you beat the bookies and you won be happy and live your life but I know you wont listen to me so stop pretending like you are trying to find a solution for your problem to make you feel better and go away you will drag other people with a weak soul with you.
The money has all gone.......
But not on gambling believe it or not. As I said earlier I wanted to invest the money in property, which I have just done. Its been 3 months now since the last bet and all is going well. Trying to keep myself busy and am starting my own business in January so fingers crossed all goes well.
Brilliant!
I am so happy for you, stay away, be happy appreciate your life. As you know the battle is not over yet you probably will face more problems lose some money on your new business but please never but never try to recover the money you lose from gambling/betting and please dont run away from the problems you will face by going to bookies or gambling sites. i wish you all the strength and happiness, luck you won't need all you needs is you and your loved ones. Take care my friend i am so happy for you
Nice story, but unbelievable or you wouldnt be in this forum. Live the dream all you like, but you are no winner. Why come onto a forum and lie. Gamblers lie all the time to protect themselves, your no different. Nows the time to be honest, this site is about quitting, not telling stories from a land of make believe. Stick with the support this site can offer you, but end the stories, and face reality
GOOD LUCK
Scam beware!
Thank you Dean0, I have deleted the post you have flagged.
All the best,
Eva
