Hello all,

I've been silently watching for 2 weeks now and feel like I can post. I'm a young female that about a year ago starting gambling for fun...like it always starts! It very quickly got out of control and before I knew it I'm 20k in debt with pay day loans coming out of my ears. I earn a good wage but had nothing to show for it. As soon as I got paid whatever I had left went on gambling - I thought that one big win could pay off my debt! The anxiety was eating me up and I finally confessed to my partner. It was the hardest thing I think I've ever done. Surprisingly he wasn't angry - just more upset that I hadn't said anything sooner. I instantly signed up to gamstop for 5 years and contacted step change and am in the process of arranging a DMP. For the first time in such a long time I have money in my account that I can use for a rainy day and it 2 years 3 months I will be debt free. Yes I have thoughts of using that money to gamble but I know can already see how much better my life is without it. Gambling is a form of abuse and I don't understand how these companies run the way they do. I guess I just wanted to come on here and say however bad life seems you're never going to get out of a rut with that big win. It won't happen. Speak to someone. Give someone access to your money. Sign up to gamstop. I never thought I could do this - it's only been 2 weeks no gambling and I know I've got a long way to go, but my God I'm proud of myself. Love to you all xx

Im proud of you, well done, I was in a similar situation and have now been gamble free for over three months. I can honestly say I don't miss gambling at all. I have my life back. I have also been able to buy things for my home and have money in my purse, no more borrowing. Keep it up, you can do this x
