Hi everyone,

I have come to a realisation today that I have a big problem with gambling. I had an amazing session yesterday and I won big and I was out of my overdraft. Today, I lost it all and back to where I started. I was free, I was at the home run and could make my escape! Why did I not stop?! I have that inability to stop and now see there is no profit in gambling for me; all I will do is give it back and more to the casino. I am feeling so incredibly low today and I am just trying to hide it from my family. I had stopped, and had Gamban on my devices but had a new laptop and used this to gamble again. I have since installed it on this device and now I cannot gamble. But I am just so angry with myself! I am such an idiot!!!!

Hi.. your not an idiot, your like thousands of us whom get caught up in the emotional rollercoaster that is gambling addiction. You keep going because the dopamine, the adrenaline is still rushing around your system after a win. It makes it very hard to stop, cos you think well if i can win once I can do it again and again and again. Gambling is designed to take advantage of this response, intermittent reward, but over time there is only one winner and ain't you and it ain't me.

Great stuff on installing Gamban on new device. Strongly recommend registering with Gamstop for 5 years, cos then it won't matter whether you get a new device or not, your accounts will be blocked and if you register false details you won't be able to withdraw cos you won't have the proofs of identity and address. So yes gamstop is effective. Do it today while your feeling "low".

All the best

Yes, always hold that truth, you will never win from gambling as you'll give it back, the more mistakes you learn from that fact will just be etched in your mind then you can get onto the real task.... life without gambling and noticing the triggers and stopping the urges. This goes hand in hand with pursuing things in life that make you happy, knowing what you are good at and helping others, make targets, chase them instead 🙂

Hi Saundby92,

Why did you not stop? Because it is far harder to stop after a win, than a loss.

At least you might give up if you are losing, but winning will only make you want more of the same, probably at higher stakes, which leads to losing and then you face soul-crushing desperation to regain what you had won and the money you have lost trying to chase it.

Change your way of thinking, winning money is far more dangerous than losing it. Fear it, accept that mentally, winning money is poison to you. That might knock your pride a bit and be hard to take, but if you don't, your pride, life and financial circumstances will be hit far worse in the time to come.
