My story

Me (Jorge) and my wife always played poker, we learned to play together so far so good we never had addiction problems, but unfortunately we discovered Pokerstar to play online and then the casino was introduced to us. History should probably repeat itself, gains at the beginning and a less than happy ending. We are a couple who met very young and have always been very in love, we got married, we live in our apartment, (financed) we have 3 beautiful daughters aged 9, 5  and 3 , and all that, The things that were always the most important in my life seemed like they didn't matter, the affection diminished. I realized that this wasn't right and so I started researching what was happening, everywhere I looked it said that seeking help is the best way. I don't want to throw everything we have away for lack of asking for help. We are both unemployed and in debt, as must happen to many too. But I'm here and I want to stay strong, because I already know what I have to do and your support will be very important.

Speaking of game history:

When my PokerStars account was created to play on my cell phone in 2014, in Brazil Google Play only releases PokerStars Lite, I couldn't deposit money. So I've always used it without any problems. But I always received flashy emails until I received an email saying that was where it all started.til I received a very attractive email about online betting and I fell into the trap.

Then the addiction started to affect us in a way that was impacting our finances and lives, about 3 months ago. And with a lot of effort I will maintain this desire and carry out the treatment.

I came to this conclusion myself, based on research.

Guilt, disappointment and every feeling that gets in the way of moving forward needs to be used to your advantage as your ally, because it is with them that you gained knowledge and regretted that is the most difficult thing, choosing the right thing. The next steps will be like learning to walk, the evolution will be natural.

Hello everyone, I would like to share that I've been away from playing for a while now and sticking to it!! What motivated me was knowing that to improve, all you need to do is start; there's no problem without a solution. The important thing is to begin even if it seems impossible, to restart and build much stronger than before. After it passes, you realize you were continuing to choose even though you knew it was bad and somehow thought that was good, but in reality, it's an illusion; the real good is being free from addictions, so don't be fooled into thinking that now is not the best time. The best is to start over!

I would like to make a suggestion: the page is very good, but it has few advertising sponsorships, making it difficult for those who are looking for help there, for example, on Google. We might be losing several people who start looking for help because they can't find the right option. In fact, I noticed that there are many ads for other games when searching for help. =(

Hello Jorge

Thank you for sharing this. It’s great to hear what’s worked for you. As you say, even if it feels like small steps, once you start taking action, you will notice changes and this can provide motivation to keep going. Doing something – no matter how small – can also help you feel more in control.

Thank you for letting us know about the experience you had with the webpage. I’m not sure if you’re referring to https://www.gamblingtherapy.org/ that we mentioned in our post but if so, I imagine this feedback would be valuable to the organisation that run the site, called Gordon Moody. You can email them directly at [email protected].

I hope you are able to keep your progress going – it sounds like you’re doing really well!

All the best

Ellen

It's commendable that you are not afraid to seek help and learn from your own mistakes. In your everyday life, don't forget to make important decisions that impact your future and the well-being of your family.

Your strength and resilience will help you navigate through life's obstacles and pave the way for a brighter future. Stay committed to your goals, and remember that you have the power to shape your own destiny and create a happy life for yourself and your loved ones.
