Hello all,
I am a new member who has been gambling for 13 years - I started at 17 and now I am 30 it has been a nightmare that I am sick and tired of.

I have self excluded from 5 online casinos, I feel this is futile however because they open new sites on a weekly basis.

I am addicted to the rush that gambling gives me- the uncontrollable shakes when waiting for an outcome. Blackjack is my favourite poison, in the long run I always lose everything. The other day I turned
500 into 9k but then down to 300 and then back to 9k. I just wanted to get to 10k but it all went so quickly with the raised steaks I was playing. Last night I got home and blew my last 2300.

I need help. Not sure anyone can do this alone.

By the way I am a student and also work part time. So I am by no means flush with cash.

I want a basic bank account with no online payments.

The main issue is that action is now needed to be taken as I am going to be a dad very shortly.

You are not alone and well done for taking the steps. With alittle one the way you have a goal.

Have you got yourself into debt through gambling? Do you have any support networks outside of GA, friends/parents?

I found today handing over all my debit cards, credit cards and ordering a simple cash card is a step i needed.

This is so me. I'm a 29yr old female and it's the slots i hit. But i always blow what i win cos if i just keep playing it could be 25k then 50k. I had 5k last week but lost it in an hour on raised stakes. Now i feel like s**t when i think what i could have done with it. Weird thing is unless it's cash in my hand then i don't feel like it's real money. Like gambling from my bank doesn't feel too bad because I'm not handing over money physically. Same with blowing any wins. It's like oh well i didnt really have it anyway. I'm like you just joined, 2 days without gambling but still feel low bout it all

I hate to say it, and yes I've been where you are! Just make it IMPOSSIBLE to gamble on every device, every bookie in town! Speak to credit card companies, they will happily block credit card companies, so will banks! Self exclude with pictures at every bookies and casino and make your existence air tight! Gambling companies rely on us! Just say no! Money gone, no lure, say no! If you cannot gamble you cannot gamble! Take up magic, fishing, cooking and sack it off! It's no crutch, just escapism to a problem that is more hideous than anything life can imagine. Take a reality check, gambling has one desired effect. To take all of our money and give us more things to worry about! Transfer the problems rather than deals with a financial mess we put ourselves in! It's all rubbish! A false high given to us by irresponsible, immorral and unethical people to line their own pockets! Even gam care is funded by the "gambling" community to give us a support crutch when we need it! Make your life impossible to gamble. Then you won't!

All the best! Abet

Hi April

Welcome to the forum and you take things step by step but you must act now to stop. Its not for you so you must leave it and stop gambling. Its no seesaw really and the seesaw ends with you down and no way of raising up again. The seesaw ends down with you bankrupt and homeless.

You have shown compulsive gambling and the addiction has a hold of you. You are ignoring reality and the odds. You cant stop and you have seen how quickly the money can leave you

Proper blocks are not futile but are you ready for those. This means blocking software on all gadgets with you not knowing the password. It may mean full monitoring of your gadgets by someone close. It also means getting you name out there on mass exclusions and blocking any gambling transactions with the bank

This is deadly serious and you are well out of any comfort zone. It will completely ruin you if you continue. You may well be addicted to the rush and playing for escape. However its a rush thats destroying your life just like any substance addiction. Thats what some people dint understand about gambling. Its as serious as a class A addiction and will ruin your life just as fast. Its no soft addiction and is one of the most dangerous forms of addiction and mind control

Please phone gamcare and you need to do all those things you have mentioned

Believe me you will wonder why you didnt do it before and one of my feelings is a huge sigh of relief that Im now gamble free.

Best wishes from everyone on the forum
