im Jamie, 27 from the UK
I gambled to escape from a hard life when I was in my early 20s. I’ve let it ruin a couple of years of my life though I’m afraid. I came clean but have relapsed a few times, and lied to myself.Â
07/01/22 is the day I’ve absolutely s**t myself because I’ve got the most amazing beautiful clever girlfriend that you could ever meet and literally I need to take action today. I am at peace with my losses. I’ll never get those back. But what I couldn’t live with is losing Meg because I can’t set up a good life because I’m controlled by gambling. I already have gamstop, tomorrow I’m going to exclude from all local bookmakers for as long as possible.

You have all the right attitude and motivation to succeed in your recovery efforts. You are able to let go of the losses and realize you cannot get them back by further gambling. You have put controls in place and in short, you are doing everything right! You cannot help but succeed. I'm confident that you will find a life with purpose and realize that gambling is not needed. Make your girlfriend proud and continue steadfastly on your journey towards recovery. I know you can do it.
