Hi. I am Sammy. I have ruined my life over several years by gambling on on line roulette. It cost me my home, my marriage and almost my sanity. My losses are too great to mention, but am now having to go on a DMP to try to sort myself out. I walked out of my marriage with £30.000 in my bank and that went within a year as well as now being a asimilar amount in debt. I desperatly need some support to make a change. I find it so hard as I have a respectable job, and I spend my days sorting out other peoples problems. Difficult to even go down the counselling route as work within similat circles,
Hi Sammy, I'm at the very early stages of reaching out for help too so am not in the best position to offer advice but I just want you to know that support you. I'm just looking into an iva which won't help me with the complete mess I have got into this month but hopefully will help me going forward. I too have a respectable job (in education) and feel at rock bottom. My poison of choice is on-line slots but I haven't gambled today and i didn't gamble last night so thats a start (although as another commentator said, it's easy not to gamble when you have no money left, it's pay day that's the hard part). To help on one small matter. Lettings agencies can only see public info when they credit check you. That would be CCJ,s bankruptcy or an IVA already in place. They would not know you have debt unless you tell them. I know this from personal experience.I am just like you and payday is a nightmare. Do you realise that if you have an IVA, your name and address will be listed on the insolvency register. How bad are your finances ?

My finances are really bad. 2 credit card debts just gone to debt collectors, another credit card and loan and overdraft with my main bank all not been paid for 2 months (had salary paid into a new basic account in Dec for fresh start and managed to gamble the lot without even paying rent - that's a first). Quarterly gas and elec due to be paid last month again, upaid. 2 Catalogues both in arrears. Argos card not paid this month but up to date apart from that. 3 Payday loans all with 1 lender unpaid this month. Haven't paid for tv licence or water since last May/June time. Just about been managing to keep head above water until this month. All of the late payments and defaults will show up on a credit check so I really am up a smelly creek without a paddle. Parents both passed away a few years ago, in fact my dad died on Christmas Eve which is what I think set me off when I got paid in December. I have no other relatives apart from my son (who is still at school). I really don't think I have any other option other than an iva. 🙁
