Hey. New to this forum compeltely have been browsing for the past hour.

Have just gambled away my last £100 for the millionth time. Now stuck with nothing yet again. Am still coming to terms with the fact that I have a problem, have self excluded from loads of sites but will just re open again.

I'm 21 and in so much debt due to this. It needs to stop. I'm hoping from today this will be the end.

Any advise? Please let me know

Hi dbeasley4,

Welcome to the Forum, and well done for posting. I am hearing that you have had several experiences of losing your last money, but this time you have made a decision to do something about it. The usual practice for you, I am hearing is self exclusion from the site, which is good, but not good enough like you have experienced, as you can always open new sites if you want to gamble.

What people who have been able to stop gambling online have found helpful is to block access to all online gambling sites from the device they gamble from. There are blocking software that people have given us positive feedback on, and we recommend them. these are http://www.betfilter.com/. www.gamblock,com . www.netnanny.com You could go on any search engine and read more about these software and decide on which one you want to use if you do not want to 're open again'.

If you have not spoken to an Advisor on our Helpline already, you can call us on our free Helpline or our Netline, our contact is on top of this page. There is a lot that we can look together with you that may help you to take the step that you want to take towards your gambling. We also give Free counselling from many areas in the country, you can talk to our Advisor about counselling if you are interested in that.

It is good that you have found this Forum, there is a lot of peer support on here. You can open your own recovery diary on here and others will reply to your post and support you.

We are here to support you.

Regards,

Forum Admin.

Hi Mate

I know exacly how you feel, its very hard to stop and hard to stop urges to gamble. But it is possible, how much debt are you in?Im sure charities like step change and citizins advice will help you on that. My advice to you is to try and focus on other things in life like your hobbies, talking to friends or exercise. Anything that will take your mind off gambling. Its whats working for me so far.

I know how you feel about the debt, I was in £3500 worth of gambling debt, I got out of that hole thankfully. Im sure you will too.

All the best.

Hi,

Well done for admitting your problems. I'm almost double your age and despite dozens of attempts I'm still trying to battle this addiction.

I've took steps to block all bookmaker sites again on my laptop and closed all of my accounts down permanently.

I'm going to trying to focus on other things such as family, eating healthy and sleeping.

The sleep is still a problem as I'm only one ay 4 gamble free.

Stick with it though as it will be worth it. You've for your whole life ahead of you. Don't waste the next 20 years gambling it away. Believe me, I wish I hadn't.

Keep the diary going and think positively.

All the best

James

Hi dbeasly4.

I hope you will now focus and start the road to recovery. Gambling will take your last £100 again and again based on the odds we all ignored...misery again and again.

Reach out for all the help on offer and we recommend that you tell someone close.

Focus on what you could have bought or done with that money. Focus on why you find other sites to lose your money again and again. Its a learning process about how the destructive addiction works on us

Being gamble free is a much better feeling. I hope you will join us and put gambling behind you

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

Thanks for all the supportive comments. Ive been trying my best, having weeks off then finding a new site to gamble on.

Just yesterday I spent my entire paycheck on gambling. Why is it so hard to stop 🙁

Hello,

I'm with Sarah in recommending you register with Gamstop. I self excluded for 5 years in May and haven't spent one penny online since as I simply accepted that I was now blocked from online gambling.

Good luck
