Hi guys,

Having battled through gambling addiction these past 15 years or so I have really reached a low point where I just want to end this battle once and for all. Let me start by introducing my self.

My name is Adam and reside in London and in the last 2 years I must have lost 10's of thousands of pounds, although most recently on 28/06/2017 I managed to lose 53k in a space of hours. Although its been almost a month since that horrid day I still cant get over it and consequently I am getting panic attacks at night and feeling ill at work.

I was given 18.5k and managed to increase that money to 53k over 2 months from gambling and buying/selling bitcoins although as is always the case in gambling have lost it all. That was money I had intended to use for a mortgage and now my dream is ruined 🙁

Its just a massive and overwhelming feeling of despair and anxiety and just dont know where to begin. I had a similar situation happen to me in December of last year where i lost 26k in one night having saved that money in a space of one year. I dont want to save money any more because it feels like a waste and I know i will never get up to that sort of money again 🙁

Hi Problem Gambler,

Welcome to the Forum!

You say that you would like to put this behind you and that you feel much anxiety and despair at the moment. Firstly, I think that it is a good step that you have started to share this here and that you are asking for support. Talking about this, can make you feel better and take some of the pressure off. Maybe you would like to join us in one of the chatrooms, too, wheer you can talk to others in real time: http://www.gamcare.org.uk/forums/chatrooms

In addition to that, counselling can be a good option for addressing these difficult feelings in order to move on. You can talk about counselling in London to an advisor on our Helpline on 0808 80 20 133 or contact the Netline http://www.gamcare.org.uk/support-and-counselling/frontline-services/netline

Both services are open from 8 am to midnight every day.

It would be good to hear from you.

Kind wishes

Gabriele
