Hi guys just re joined the site have really been struggling with my roulette addiction I’ve lost so much money over the years over £50,000 easily I now have a wife and 2 year old daughter she has lend me so much money which I’ve paid back parents have given me so much money had so many loans I’m just so drained I don’t even want money around me or near me

I’ve blocked myself from online for 5 years

ive blocked myself from main land casino also

im trying to think of ways to close every door possible

any advice

I’ve sent up standing order to send my partner every pay day what stops me from cancelling it

I’ve blocked over 18 websites on phone

I’m not sure what else I can now do I think that’s everything I have a very good job and I’m just wasting my life and other people’s life’s

just need some advice sometimes I go 100 days without gambling and then I may gamble for 2 days straight and not sleep I have won so much but within a week or 2 will lose it all back plus more

I really wana change I just feel if I don’t have no money I won’t but is that enough is that killing the addiction or just removing the funds

Hi, what things have you put in place. Have you registered with Gamstop, put a blocker on your phone. If so the extra blockers you could try are contacting your bank to see if they can put a block on gambling transactions, some do and some don't or handing over complete control of your finances to your partner. This may sound extreme but it's what I did. My wife cancelled my debit card and changed all logon details for the bank so with this and the blockers I have no access to instant money which takes away all temptation if you get the urge to gamble.

Good luck

Hi Chris100

Welcome back to the Forum,

From your post it sounds like you have put a lot of blocks in places to prevent you from gambling which is a great step forward.

I was wondering if you've contemplated some support for the urges and triggers you have too?

If you haven't done so already, I can recommend that you talk to one of our Advisers on 0808 8020 133 or chat via our Netline

They'd be able to refer you to some free 1 to 1 support, or talk in more depth about your gambling and ways to deal with the urges you have.  You've showed that you can go a period of time without gambling in your life, but if you'd like some extra support to help you during those times you do get those urges they'd welcome your call.

Best wishes

ChrisK

@chris100 could you just get your wages paid directly into your wife's account, save you possibly cancelling the standing order?

Chris.

@chris100 You wouldn't need to explain yourself, you could just ask payroll at the county to change your bank details.

It's a thought for you.

good luck,

Chris.

Hi Chris I’ll keep it short.

- GamStop and GamBan - it’ll close all accounts you have on betting sites and block your devices.

- Pay your salary into a joint account with your wife or into her own account. She will then have visibility of any activity and give you hell if you deposit on 1 betting site.

If you follow the above, you will have a lot more control.

Chris..anyone can have wages put into any account they choose, without any questions. You just go through personel or who ever deals with wages where you work and change your payment details. Simples.  Wishing you well . Now my account number is......??
