Hi,
Does anyone have any tips on stopping playing bingo? I say to myself I won’t play again but then go the next day. I had a couple of wins on consecutive days a while ago and in some ways it has encouraged me to gamble more.
I always buy the most electronic tickets each time I go...
Thanks for taking the time to read my post
David.
Hello David and welcome to the Gam Care Forum.
Thank you for your post.Â
I am sorry to hear that you are having difficulty stopping or reducing the times you go to Bingo. It is possible to self-exclude or 'ban' yourself from Bingo Halls if this is a step you are ready to make. You might also put other blocks in place like restricting how much money you take with you; leave your cards at home and/or add a gambling transaction block if your bank offers this.Â
There is also the option to refer to some treatment support; this is an opportunity to look in to the bigger picture of someone's gambling; so to look at any underlying issues or contributing factors or triggers may be increasing your urge to gamble.Â
If you would like to talk more about this, you are very welcome to contact us on the netline or on our helpline on 0808 8020 133, both open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
Wishing you all the very best,

Hi there,
Thanks so much for your reply and advice. My bank contacted me by email to highlight I was using transactions frequently and offered to put a block on that so have done that with them.Â
I can’t believe that what turns out to be a bit of fun can lead to an addiction....

Hi David.
From my own experience, Bingo was always my compensation for social interaction that I did not have. I did not need friends but Bingo was fine as I had the flutter and the bingo friends down the hall. Self-exclusion is the only option as it can get so expensive there as well. I would try and get busy with other social things that don't include the gambling part.Â
Good luck in your recovery!
Thanks for your reply. TBH I think gambling should be banned altogether.....
**** UPDATE****
I have been to the bingo club today and told them I want to self exclude myself from all bingo clubs so are arranging this after filling the forms out.Â
I have got a lifetime exclusion from National Lottery online and my bank have put blocks on my visa and credit cards from being used on gambling sites....
God knows what I’m going to be like but hey ho I’ve got to start somewhere......Â
Affected by gambling?
