Hi guys I’ve just created my account, this morning I decided to block my 2 betting apps and delete them as I feel I have been addicted for the past 2 years......I currently have a fiancé and my son is 4 years old and I have my wedding next year, I really want to tell her about my addiction but I fear that she will leave me if I do because I had used all my wages on it and and started using money I had saved up on the wedding trying to win more money. That’s when I realised I had to stop but I think it will be too late now :/

Hi @callum23,

My partner is a gambling addict and I can honestly say I would’ve much rather he had told me himself than having to find out about his problem for myself.

She WILL find out and it will be better for it to come from you. The trust is already broken by your actions but she can at least respect your honesty.

The initial reaction will be painful, of course but posting on here, recognising you need help and starting the process of change by blocking yourself is a great step.

Fingers crossed for you both.

Hi @callum23

I would recommend signing up to gamstop also, I used to block myself from betting accounts but I would always end up opening a new account with another firm. It was only when I signed up to gamstop that I could feel a change.

I am in a similar situation to you. My wife doesn’t know I gamble and doesn’t know how much debt I am in because of it. I really want to tell her but, like you, I think she will leave me if she knew. I’m not sure what the best thing to do is. My main focus at the minute is to take each day as it comes and try to fight the urges of gambling.

I really wish you the best of luck with your journey and hope everything works out for you.
