Hi I'm new here.
I've got myself into serious debt troubles and I honestly dont know what to do anymore.
I feel like a massive idiot 🙁
I'm at the point where I feel like giving up, I'm going to be unable to pay my debts off, I've considered taking a dmp out to make my payments more manageable but I feel like it's not an option for me as it will cost me more in the long run, I cant tell my partner or family as they will disown me and cant help me out financially.
I've worked out all my Bill's and I'm left with 100 a month for food and other expenses and im stuck in my debt for the next 6 years. Ideally I would have had almost 600 free to myself a month 🙁
I took to gambling the other year because of my anxiety. I also have zero friends and suffered two suspected miscarriages which have made me feel horrible about myself. I won big and paid half my debts off but then I ended up losing double that and borrowed again.
I'm possibly going to lose my job over the next few months as the company in work for really isnt doing very well at the moment.
I'm due to go on holiday in october which I'm still paying monthly for but I'm worried I cant afford to pay that and have any spending money at all:(
Anyway sorry for the rant I just needed to shout out and hello to everybody
Dear @lovealone,
Welcome to the Forum and well done for finding the courage to reach out and post.
I am really sorry to read what you have been through over the past few years. Having a miscarriage can be a very traumatic experience I am really sorry you had to go through that. Often when we are experiencing trauma we are looking for something to comfort us, and it isn't unusual that gambling becomes this comfort for people. It is perhaps also something you might need more support with so you could maybe look at the following link: https://www.miscarriageassociation.org.uk/
I also appreciate that debt and money worries and the worry over your job will contribute considerably to the anxiety you are experiencing. I would strongly recommend you get advice from StepChange https://www.stepchange.org/ . They will be able to advise you on how best to move forward in terms of your debt and they will potentially be able to offer you a dmp.
I appreciate it is very difficult to talk to people around you about what has been going on for you. However it is always helpful to at least find one person close to you you can confide in. Not to ask for financial support, but someone who can give you some emotional support and hold your hand whilst you are going through this challenging time.
You are not alone, all of us here on the Forum are there to support you. You are also very welcome to call us on the Helpline or the Netline ( https://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-support/talk-to-us-now/ ) for one-to-one, confidential support, we are here 24/7.
Well done again for coming on here today. Please keep posting and sharing.
Wishing you all the very best with your recovery,
Eva

Hello I'm new here too. I'm so sorry about your misscarrages. I can relate to that very much. 4 rounds of ivf under my belt. I believe that is what has stemmed my gambling to be where it is. Please stay strong. I'm here if you need a chat x
Hi mate
Hope you are doing OK. First thing first is you've came to right place for support. I've been in the same situation as you regarding debts and it's suffocating. As the admin has suggested a Dmp might be your best option in tackling that. Or contact all your lenders saying you need support etc and see what they can do for you.
I've suffered from anxiety and depression for the best part of 12 years and I'm sure I used gambling as a way of getting away from it all, escpially after a few beers. I'm now 1 week gamble free and anxiety has greatly reduced.
I hope your holding up OK mate
Xxx
Hi BabyGirl2020 and May1019, thank you both for joining the forum and being supportive of others here. Please feel free to start your own thread and introduce yourself in the new members intros.
BabyGirl2020 I am sorry to hear that you feel IVF is the reason your gambling has got where it is today. It sounds like doing 4 rounds has been a very long and difficult process to go through.
If this is something you feel you might need support with you could look at the Fertility Network UK and Fertility friends (this is a forum dedicated to infertility issues).
In the meantime, we are here to support you. Our Helpline (0808 802 133) and Livechats can offer support and advice on options to help with your gambling recovery 24/7.
Keep posting,
