Hi everyone - never thought I would be in this position, but over the last couple of months I have squandered way too much on online slots. This all started a year ago when I started matched betting and for 9 months of this period I was making a profit each month by doing the matched sports betting and gradually went into the casino offer low risk side and was also making money from this (following instructions from the matched betting site I joined). The problem started in I could not accept any days on the casino side with even small losses. I therefore gradually started getting caught up using specific games (Big Bad Wolf was my most used). I then started going beyond the spins needed for offers and spent hours on end trying to recoup losses. This was bad enough but I then started to increase stakes. I started having days losing £200 - £300. I then had a day a couple of weeks ago where I lost £700 and thought it was a turning point. I said to myself I was only going to do sports offers from then on. It worked for a week, but then gradually returned to the slots. It started again with low risk and low stakes, but soon I was going at it harder again. Last week I got away with it on a couple of days where I went from £100 - £150 down to even up after higher stakes big wins. This should have been a warning, but I carried on and yesterday I finished over £800 down. I feel sick at this. I am careful with money in my life but was finding myself using £10 stakes on a single spin. This is a World away from the 10p stakes I used when starting this. I cannot understand what happened to me, but know I was getting a buzz from the bonus and scatter rounds and kept getting lured in. I have used Gamstop now to freeze all accounts, but would appreciate any advice here as really in a place I never thought I would be.

Hi there.  Put that 800 loss out in notes in front of you and imagine  the real cash being just taken off the table to go into the millions that those casino type business have in their back pocket

Then just say you need a tenner you can be sure that those same casinos etc would not even bung you a fiver

When you put real cash in the hand into their algorithm it’s gone in a flash the only way is to be totally switched on cut off all access to funds redirected wages as well you have to realise that you are a money diversion tool that sends money to fat cats at casino etc business   Best

@i7r9twun1f Yeah that's the thing, I would never dream of going out and spending that in an actual casino, but got easily lost in it online. It's like it's just numbers and not real money and that's the scary part. I never imagined being in this position and am so angry with myself. I feel like I have been punched in the stomach and yet can still feel that urge to gamble to get the money back. Am glad I used gamstop as that temptation is gone at least.

Casinos don't offer these bonuses so people can make an income off them I don't know why this concept has sprung up and become so popluar over the last few years.

Seems a lot of people are looking for easy money or a get rich quick style scheme but are ending up exactly where the operators want them........... with gambling addictions

i think the biggest step in recovery is taking accountability and admitting you have been sold down the river largely by your own greed

@287hzyl0pq Greed, followed by chasing losses. I am lucky that I haven't gone into my general bill money etc. I am hoping that at least I have stopped at the right time.
