Hey everyone I just found this forum and I thought it could really help to talk to someone. I’ve been gambling for about a year now and I really need to stop. At first I would always be happy and cash out wins and never push it and spend too much but lately I can’t help myself.I have self excluded from most website now but there was still one there this week that I found and I gambled again. I said I wouldn’t do it after the new year but I did again this week. I lost money earlier in the week but when I got paid I put £40 more in and won over £200 which was all the money back. I then put in a bit more and won £80 and I should have been happy with getting that £280 out but they were both still pending for a couple of days and I reversed them and played till it was all gone. I’m lucky for the fact that I’m a live in au pair and don’t have any bills and I get paid weekly and always have food in the house to eat etc. I also have some money saved up in cash that I haven’t been touching. I don’t have a problem with gambling in real life but online is a real problem for me. I’m going to self exclude from all remaining sites I can find and try to stay strong and from now on maybe get most of my money out of the bank and save it up in cash so I’m not tempted to spend it online anymore if I find any more sites out there. My mam told me that if I could see the money in front of me instead of online then I wouldn’t spend it as easily. At least I don’t have any bills or debts and any money I get paid from now on each week I’m going to make a plan to save as much as I can cause I have things to look forward to this year and I need to save up and go out and enjoy my life.
Hi
I'm also new to the site & have just uploaded my first post. you've made a big step in identifying that you have a problem, my advice is to self exclude from all your accounts & obtain a bank card which can't be used for spending online. If you havn't explored any other forms of gambling I suggest you do the above before it completly destroys your life. I can relate to your story & it reminds me of how It all started for me.
Stay strong 🙂

Hi lovehearts,
Well done on coming here, its a good way to keep your head in check. If you could give someone like your Mum access to you accounts so she could keep a watchful eye over you that would be a big help. You have spotted the issue early which is good, so you have done measures to protect yourself and your Mum knows aout the issue so you have someoen to talk about it with, all good measures. Altough the amounts you have lost are small now, its was same for me at teh start but it soon spiralled out of control.
A good idea might be to open up an savings account that had no card, so you pay your cash in and if you need to withdraw you have to go into the branch to do so, that way you can save up for nice things and gives you focus. Also look for what were your trigger points, try and counter act these. So for example, you say your an au pair, you may have times during the day when your bored and had nothing to do, if this was the case, maybe take an online course or something that will keep you busy in down times. You also say its basically online gambling you were doing, so you should purchase some software suchs as gamban (think its like a tenner per year or somehting), add that to any phone or devise you have and it will block gambling sites.
Good luck
