So tomorrow I'm 4 weeks gamble free - never thought I could do it! Unbelievable feeling to go a whole month without that up and down feeling of finances, that feeling when I wake up and think how "much did I lose yesterday" - "what is there to be on today". A month with not going to friends and family for some money to lend so I could gamble whilst my family go without
thats all in the past - totally focused on what's right and beating these urges to go over to the dark side! This time it will not happen!
Huge congrats on getting to the 1 month mark.
Not a lot more I can say, other than, keep up what you're doing, keeping assessing blocks etc... and keep enjoying life a whole lot more.
So it's 5 weeks today since I gambled - I've got up for the first time in those 5 weeks with an intense urge to have a bet ... Golf, tennis, F1, football all on TV today this urge is huge ... Thought I was beating these urges but the feeling is as strong as ever today! Got to stay strong and overcome them today - if I succumbed to these I know I will be back to square 1 ....
Don't ruin your hard work now.
You'll be feeling much less tense and stressed, than you were 5 weeks ago, because you haven't been gambling and all the stress etc...that brings, is gradually disappearing.
Your mind will be much more relaxed and telling you, it's ok, you can have a little gamble, then go back to stopping again, after all you've done 5 weeks, so it'll be easy to start again. But of course, a little gamble for a compulsive gambler isn't going to happen. It's more likely to lead to you, thinking ok, I can gamble small every week or so, but then before you know it, you're back in the horrible daily gamble circle, with all the stress that brings.
In truth, the urges don't ever go, but they become less frequent, as you say the first time in 5 weeks, you've had an intense urge. I reckon, you would have had an urge to gamble every day at first.
If you are having an opportunity to gamble still, then you need to reasses the blocks you have in place and tighten them and/or put more in.
Yeah I've not succumbed to them so all is ok ! - enjoying a pint in the sunshine instead - avoided all the sport that is on
Hello I hope you come back and keep us updated. I'm on day 1 and it's killing me!
Thanks Kimmii
managing to beat this urge - should be ok back to work and normality today! - been looking at your posts, hope you keep up the hard work of beating this demon x
6 weeks GF ..... Feeling good
Woohoo, well done to you.
You should feel good and that feeling will continue to feel even better, the more you leave the gambling life behind.
