Hi,
I'm a compulsive gambler and have been for a very long time
Age 51 - been gambling for more than 35 years. Mainly horse racing, in shop or online, but fruit machines, cards, casinos, online blackjack and FOBT's as various stages.
First went to GA in Leeds in 1988 but I didn't make it stick. Of all my regrets in life, that's by far the biggest.
Have self excluded all my online accounts (probably had at least 60 over the years).
Last bet was saturday afternoon 30th Dec 2017
So 16 days clean
Welcome to the forum and Well done for 16 days gamble free! I hope you find all the help and advice you need in your recovery. Deleting your accounts is brilliant but there's always more, have you looked into blocking software for your device? I find the best way is to just not have money in my account, is there anyone you could trust to look after your money for awhile? Coming on here regularly, reading what's helped others and being able to write exactly how you feel is big help aswell.
Thank you.
Hi KST,
Your biggest regret is not sticking to GA, but there is no point living in the past and feeling sorry for ourselves, we can only learn from it. You are a compulsive gambler, this will never change. The only thing you can decide is wheather or not gambling will control the rest of your life or not. If you dont want it to you have to stop gambling, to do this as a compulsive gambler you will need support. GA will help if you make it part of your life and work hard at the 12 step recovery plan. Its not easy but it can be done.
Thanks Joe
