I have a gambling problem and have done for approx 18 years.
I finally admitted this yesterday after losing yet more money, my main problem is Roulette both on line and in bookies / casino. The issue i have got is that I actually work in the industry so I'm surrounded by gambling day in day out.
I fall into the same trap as everyone, you go into the bookies put £10 in the machine or on a bet and it wins, instead of walking away you think you ate on a winning streak and before u know it u have lost everything and more. The only winners is the gambling industry.
I was in a long term relationship and the other half knew I gambled but didn't know how much, I was lying to her m, I was get payday loans to cover wat I lost, I borrowed from my parents and used it for more gambling. I have lost track on how much debt I'm in probabley around £20k, I have beenВ diagnosed with depression for a long time and that the gambling isn't helping.
So enough is enough and today is the start of the long road, it's going to be harder for me as I work in the industry but I'm going to be very strong and get through it.
Hi fella! Sorry to hear on your troubles! Just so as you know I too am an problem gambler. I am new here and after getting sick of roulette ruling my life for the past few months I just had enough. First step is admitting you have a problem *tick* you have clearly done that! Its a hugely positive step BUT by itself its a rubbish step, we need to accept positive change is the only thing thats going to make a difference to the s**t we been through! First suggestion for you, get the hell out of that industry, how can you ever get over an ex wife that cheated on you if you see her 8-9h 5 days a week! It's the same with gambling you can never move on if its in your face pal! Second, cut off every way you can play. Self exclude from EVERYTHING! no excuses, get excluding! This is all to be in one day, it will be so uplifting for you! I promise it will feel like the best day of your life. Fill in the forms in the bookies etc and online get self excluding. So far we've admitted we have a problem, we've moved out of the job to get that perminant in your face temptation and we've made it inconvenient for you to gamble anymore. The final tip I have for you is get a passion. Find something you can spend all your energy on... Sport... Gaming... Body building... Walking... Rock climbing... Hikeing... Cycling! Anything you can really get behind and pour your heart into it! This can be a cause of our addiction in the first place we're bored, maybe a little lonely or maybe down on our luck!
I hope that doesnt come accross as me sounding like a bossy t**t :)) I am just so passionate about helping who I can and trying to set you in a possitive direction! Best of luck my friend! Keep us informed on plans/progress! God bless!

I totally agree with Gaffer there and his analogy is perfectly fitting about your job. You probably won't want to here it but you do really need to look to finding a new job. It's time to really focus on yourself and getting better and the last thing you need is to paying people big winnings which would probably trigger urges.
Good luck
